Labyrinth: Walking Prayer

This is the design of the labyrinth on the floor of the Cathedral in Chartes, France.

Christians from many different traditions are recovering walking the labyrinth as a prayer and meditation practice.  Although labyrinths are found in many ancient traditions, Christians in the middle ages used them as a way to symbolically make a pilgrimage journey to the Holy Land.   Labyrinths are not mazes, but have only one path in and out, inviting the walker into a non-verbal and physical experience of prayer.  Read here for more about labyrinths and their use.
