Testimony as Practice

testimonyFrom the days of the ancient Jewish forebears in the Old Testament and the early days of post-resurrection accounts, Christians have told the stories of their encounters with God.  These stories are told for the benefit of both the teller (we learn about ourselves in the re-telling), and for the building up of the whole community of those who listen to the stories.  We have sometimes called this story-telling “testimony”, with all the sense of truth-telling that the word can evoke.  Vital Christian communities often find some way to incorporate testimony into their communal life.  Read more about testimony as spiritual practice.
